Actual Cash Value (ACV)
The value of damaged property after depreciation is deducted. Calculated as Replacement Cost minus Depreciation.
Additional Living Expenses (ALE)
Coverage that pays for temporary housing, meals, and other increased costs when a home becomes uninhabitable after a covered loss.
Adjuster (Insurance Adjuster)
A professional who evaluates property damage and determines claim value.
- Company Adjuster – works for the insurer
- Independent Adjuster – contracted by the insurer

Business Interruption (BI)
Coverage that compensates a business for lost income and extra expenses after a covered property loss.
Burst Pipe Claim
